Indonesian volcano adventure video - Part 2 - Papandayan

14 days volcano trekking in Java, Indonesia

In 2011 the Winster Cavers spent 14 days volcano trekking in Indonesia, starting at Anak Krakatau off of the West Coast of Java, and traversing the entire island to finish on Bali.

We've split the 50 minute film of the whole adventure into a series of short films, one for each volcano/cave we visited. Enjoy!

Part 2 - Papandayan

The extremely explosive volcano of Papandayan lies to the South East of Banding City, Java. The last significant eruption was in 2002.

Two weeks prior to our visit, the warning level on Papandayan was increased to level 3, "waspada" and a 2km exclusion zone declared around the volcano after an earthquake swarm and a release of poisonous hydrogen sulphide and carbon monoxide gas.  We were the only tourists at the site!
