Volcano trekking in Java, Indonesia
Images from our 2011 volcano trekking adventure across the Indonesian island of Java, visiting Anak Krakatau, Papandayan, the Dieng volcano complex, Gunung Merapi, Gunung Kelud, Gunung Mahameru (Semeru), Mount Bromo, and Kawah Ijen. All this with a day's caving in South Malang thrown in mid-itinerary for good measure!

We never did get the name of this uncomplaining, helpful porter, to whom we are eternally grateful for carrying tripods and spare lenses to the summit of Semeru for us. The shadow of the peak behind him is Semeru itself. |
