    Cave Pearls

Formed as calcite rich water drips into their tiny nests, cave pearls must be amongst the most beautiful of all speleothems we could ever encounter - and are certainly a personal favourite of the Winster Cavers. These photographs were taken in caves, and mines throughout the UK - don't ask us where though, that's a secret!

Small nests of cave pearls within a brightly coloured calcite flow - stained with iron and manganese deposits. These small cave pearls have mostly attached to the surrounding flow. |
