Images from our 2011 volcano trekking adventure across the Indonesian island of Java, visiting Anak Krakatau, Papandayan, the Dieng volcano complex, Gunung Merapi, Gunung Kelud, Gunung Mahameru (Semeru), Mount Bromo, and Kawah Ijen. All this with a day's caving in South Malang thrown in mid-itinerary for good measure!

The subject of a thousand postcards, and it's absoutely clear why - the view of the sunrise over smoking Mount Bromo and the surrounding volcanoes is almost heart-stoppingly beautiful. Semeru is visible in the background with its summit just above the cloud line. |
